I couldn't resist a nod and a wink to the pattern in today's date. Fairly unique and noteworthy.
The local radio are holding a phone-in as to whether we think the devil/evil really exists. I reckon that if we put energy into believing the existence of evil forces then we create them or give them power. So if we don't believe in them then they don't even exist. (This is NOT the same as hiding your head under a pillow because when you are hiding under a pillow the fear is still there.)
Bad stuff happens sure enough. And sometimes really bad stuff happens but that doesn't mean it was motivated by evil or the devil. Thoughtlessness, carelessness and stupidity are all more likely.
Likewise, if we put energy into believing only the best of people then good is manifested. It is encouraged and grows.

Our devils are our own. Mine went on holiday to the coast this morning, and I couldn't be happier :)

All this stuff about today being "the Devil's day" presupposes that one is a practising Christian. Without faith in the New Testament 666 is just a number and not as spooky as mirrors, for one example.

I think that its just a number too. Mankind can be held responsible for all the evil and wrong doing. They can if they stopped blaming others undo all the evil and wrong doing.

I like that...life according to Doris. I've been having the most difficult time commenting on your blog cuz Blogger seems to be in Maintenance mode forever. I agree about evil. It seems that people who do believe in it, use it as a crutch to take less personal responsibility for their actions. An extreme example is: the devil made me do it.
I believe there's so much good in people, the bad things are usually a result of our environment. Enjoyed this post very much Doris.
